Aiden is loving school. He has a wonderful teacher and is going to a really great elementary. He loves his new found freedom from his mommy and enjoys not having to tell me everything about his day including what he ate for lunch and if and when he "went" to the bathroom. This is hard for me as his mommy. From the day he was born until now I have pretty much known everything he has done. When they are babies you keep track of everything and then when he went to sitters I knew exactly what his day was going to be like and even now at Shelly's even if he doesn't want to tell me something Shelly will on a daily basis. So now his response to me when I ask him about school is "I don't want to tell you" and at first this concerned me. Did he not want to tell me because he was in trouble at school but after the first week of this I figured if he really was in trouble his teacher would be calling me. Once I get an update from her or get to see his work he is doing in class that seems to help him start talking about it with me. He has also visited the "sorry chair" twice so far. His teacher assures me that when he has been in the sorry chair it wasn't for very long and it was for simple matters that she has to instill the correct behaviors in them now on the proper way to go to school and I am thankful for that. She is exactly what Mr. Aiden needs! Someone to lay the law down and get it pounded in him correctly from the very start. I am so thankful for Mrs. McGloughlin.
Aiden is also really pushing the limits right now. He is in that phase where he wants to see just how far you will let him go. You know you hear all the time that children want and need discipline and are practically begging for it and I totally see that right now in him. We are really working on trying to be ourself and not what someone else thinks we should be. We are learning that knowing right from wrong and actually doing right from wrong are two completely different things. He is learning that fibbing to your parents is in no way a good thing. He has also learned that when you lie to your parents you are lying to God and we must ask Him for forgiveness.
But on the flip side of all the hard lessons he is learning he is also learning so many wonderful things. He knows how to spell a good handful of words. He can write his own name, Mom, and Dad. He recognizes all of his letters and the sounds they make (thank you letter factory!) He used eventually in a sentence the other day and actually used it correctly in the sentence! He is learning to write letters! He is learning how to color a picture and stay in the lines! Among all those great school things he is learning he now also knows how to work his dvd player and remote. He knows how to work our remote, how to pause, play, rewind and fast forward to get what he wants. He also knows how to watch episodes of the old transformer animated shows on you tube and how to start another one after one ends. He is getting very good at riding his bike and scooter! I am pretty sure we are finally completely out of his night time diaper! This time of trying was his idea and that to me means it will stick! He is absolutely obsessed with going out on a boat. He loves it and asks us nearly everyday when we are getting one and tells us we can pay for it with money from the money bank. He even told us he would give us his money!
Wow well what was going to be a short post turned into a mini Aiden update. I love that baby so much that he is worth taking up an entire post! Isn't that what this blog is intended for.....
